Mary Clara Bennett, 97 of Brush Valley passed away Thursday, June 22, 2018 at the Communities of Indian Haven. She was the daughter of the late Harry and Blanche (Snyder) Snyder and was born August 16, 1920 in Brush Valley.
In addition to being a homemaker, Mary was actively employed with the Bennett Nursery. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed springtime, flower planting, fall harvesting and canning her own vegetables.
Mary was often seen riding around her property on her golf cart, including visits to the family “dam”. She was a member of the Independent Traditional Holiness Church and attended Brush Valley Chapel with her son, William.
She is survived by one son, William Bennett of Brush Valley; one brother, Harry Snyder of Brush Valley; six grandchildren, Rick Bennett, Dennis (Laura) Bennett, Steve (Becky) Bennett, Jennifer (Miles) Stahl, Alisha (Tom) Henry and Ashlee (Matt) Barnes. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren, Leanna, Richard, Skylar and Carson Bennett, Alex Bennett, Asher and Madalyn Stahl, Evelyn Bennett, Emily and Isaac Bennett and Maverick, Makaela, Mitchell, and McGuire Henry; and three great great grandchildren, Maddox Bennett and Carson and Levi Stahl. Her niece, Deb Snyder and Nephew, William Snyder also survive her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Bennett, her son Wayne D. Bennett, her brother, William Shelton and her sister Janet.
Friends will be received Sunday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Services will be held Monday at 11 AM at the Funeral Home with Pastor Charles Williamson and Reverend Bob Smith, officiating. Interment to follow in the Brush Valley Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in her honor to a charity of your choice.
