Betty Jane (Gula) Cook, 81, Homer City died Monday, October 8, 2018 at her late residence. She was born April 5, 1937 in Heilwood, PA. Betty was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, where she was an usher, a member of Christian Mothers and a greeter. She was also a member and past president of the Indiana Elks Auxiliary where she helped with bingo She was a member of the Aultman Fire Auxiliary and one of the founders of the Aultman Playground and loved the Indiana Mall where she was a regular mall walker. Betty was a 25 year breast cancer survivor. She enjoyed golfing and was in a ladies league at the Indiana VFW, where she once got a hole in one on the 17th hole, and also enjoyed bowling where she was also in bowling leagues at the Indiana VFW and Mohawk Lanes. Betty was employed by Sears for 37 years where she worked in various positions. She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Wallace Cook; one daughter, Debbie and husband Ron Fricke, Whitehouse, Ohio; four grandchildren, Ron, Abbie, Logan and Landon; one brother, Ronald "Butch" Gula and wife Nancy, Ohio; three sisters, Lillian Passage, Arizona, Dolores and husband Ed Sedlock, Kansas and Barb and husband Jeff McCombie, Mechanicsburg, PA. A brother in law, Jack Troxel, Homer City and numerous nieces and nephews also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two sisters, Helen Troxell and Ruth Gula and one brother, Peter Gula. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-9 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held Friday at 9:30AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines Site. Interment to follow in the church cemetery, Lucernemines.
