Daniel Bruce George

April 7, 1944 — January 13, 2018

Daniel Bruce George, born in 1944 in Indiana, PA to Joseph Clair George and Thelma Geraldine Harmon George, died on Saturday, January 13, 2018 at his home in care of loving family. Daniel was married to Barbara Kathleen Brown George for 53 years. They have three children: Jane Clare George, Elizabeth Suzanne George and Daniel Bruce George II; three grandchildren: Patrick Logan, Morgan Chichy and Noah Chichy, all of whom live close by and have enjoyed a wonderful relationship with him. He had numerous extended family and friends who love him and knew him to be a loving, bright, and friendly spirit who always enjoyed good conversation and fellowship. He also enjoyed a long friendship with his Border Collie, Sunny. Daniel was a lifelong dairy farmer and worked with his father Joseph and then son Dan II on the family farm in Brush Valley. He loved his family and the Lord and was a wonderful provider who avidly studied the Bible. He had a passion for music, science, and machines. He graduated from United High School and majored in Biology at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. His great love of music was exhibited in his custom-made stereo system, and he took great pride in the speakers that he designed and fabricated. He often listened to a wide range of classical music and opera; some of his favorite performers were Luciano Pavarotti, the Boston Pops, Julie Andrews, Kathleen Battle, and George Wright. He also instilled a great appreciation of music in all three of his children. Blessed with a beautiful tenor voice, he was active in church choir and community chorus. He enjoyed collecting Lionel trains and Oliver tractors and had a fascination for the evolution of flight and all types of aircraft. Daniel was an advocate for local agriculture and the dairy industry. He was active in Pennsylvania Farm Bureau and served on several other boards and committees throughout his life. Our family has been blessed with the care, compassion, and skill of both the tireless members of the Visiting Nurses Association of Indiana County (www.vnaindiana.org) and Indiana County Aging Services (www.agingservicesinc.com). Please honor Daniel's name by sending a donation to either of these wonderful organizations in lieu of flowers and food. No services will be held at this time; we will be having a memorial service to be announced at a later time in the spring, Daniel's favorite season.
