Dr. Ralph Richard Brown

Dr. Ralph R. Brown, 86, Homer City died Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at his late residence. He was the son of the late Ralph S. and Anna E. (Smith) Brown and was born October 6, 1931 in Spangler, Pennsylvania. Dr. Brown was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Homer City, American Legion Post #493, Homer City, American Trappers Association, Pennsylvania Trappers Association, NRA and the Sinnemahoning Sportsman Club. He was a Unites States Air Force Veteran having served from October 1954 to July 1958. He retired as a physician after 41 years of service. During his career, Dr. Brown served as presidentof the Indiana Hospital Medical Society and helped establish Citizens Ambulance Service. He also delivered over 5,000 babies, which may have been his most cherished aspect of being a physician. Dr. Brown enjoyed farming, hunting, trapping, his garden and spending time with his family. Dr. Brown is survived by his wife, the former Doris Ann (Young); five children, Richard Ross (Nat) Brown, Homer City; John David and wife Cindy Brown, Kenwood; Elizabeth A. Brown, Homer City; Carol and husband Jeff Beall, Reno, Nevada, and Cynthia and husband Richard Andrie, Homer City; ten grandchildren, Christopher Mrozowski, Kathryn Mrozowski, Joshua Brown, Andrew and wife Samantha Brown, Jeremy Brown, Joseph and wife Stephanie Andrie, Julie Andrie, Jason Beall, Emily Brown and George Brown. He is also survived by five great grandchildren, Owen Brown, Isaac Brown, Easton Brown, Cameron Andrie and Wren Andrie, and his brother, Luther E. and wife Laine Brown, Chattanooga, Tennessee. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Dwight D. Brown. Friends will be received Friday from 2-4 and 6-9PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home and again Saturday from 9:30 until time of funeral service at 10:30 AM at Hope Lutheran Church, Homer City. Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Dr. Brown's name to Citizens Ambulance Service, Indiana County.
