Edmund S. Zalewski

Edmund S. Zalewski, Sr., 94,Indiana, formerly of Monessen died August 31, 2016 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was the son of the late Peter and Rosalie (Sobieska) Zalewski and was born June 25, 1922 in Monessen, PA. Mr. Zalewski was employed by Wheeling/Pittsburgh Steel, Monessen, PA and was a United States Army Veteran having served in WWII while stationed in England with the Military Police. He enjoyed music, especially big bands, and he was an avid sports fan who loved his Pirates, Penguins and Steelers. He was a devout catholic of the Roman Catholic Faith. He is survived by four children, Edmund S. (Elaine) Zalewski, Jr., Shelocta; Christine Zalewski (Dale Betsinger), Detroit, MI; Diane Zalewski (Don) Porter, Meadville; and Rosemary Zalewski, Indiana, PA. Edmund is also survived by eight grandchildren, Scott (Kim) Wilson, Michigan; April Wilson, Mira Loma, CA; Michelle (Joseph) Roth, Indiana; Katherine (Derek) Martin, Halifax, MA; Lisa Zalewski, Shelocta; Edmund S. (Dana) Zalewski, III, Middletown, MD; and Stewart Edmund ( Ann Marie Chylinski) Porter, Erie, PA and 15 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Andrew and sisters, Pearl and Sophie Friends will be received Sunday, from 1until 4PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A blessing service will be held Monday at 10 AM at the funeral Home with Rev. Father Andres Dumangan, officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
