Elizabeth Ann “Betty Ann” Gazza, 84, of Homer City, PA passed away Saturday, September 21, 2019 at the Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Rura) Kuchar and was born on May 23, 1935 in Coral, PA.
Betty Ann married Ernest Robert (Bob) Gazza on June 28, 1958 at St. Francis Catholic Church in Graceton, PA. They were married for 61 years.
Betty Ann graduated from Laura Lamar High School in Homer City, PA in 1953. She was employed by Robertshaw in Indiana, PA for nine years. She was a devout catholic and a member Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church. When her children were young, she volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother. She attended many local sporting events and always knew the score of whatever game she was watching. As an original member of the Red Barn Sportsman Club Ladies Auxiliary and a member of Meals of Mercy at Our Lady Assumption Catholic Church, Betty Ann spent many hours with her friends making perogies, haluski, and other ethnic foods for picnics and church events. She also was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and served as the treasurer for the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association.Her grandchildren loved to visit Grandma and enjoyed her toast and ham.
In addition to her husband Bob, she is survived by her children Jim and his wife Dena, State College, PA and Bill and his wife Beth of Ocean Isle Beach, NC. Her grandchildren Elysse Catino (Nick) of Arlington, VA; Evan Gazza (Ashley) of Spencerport, NY; Joseph Gazza (Kristen) of Mechanicsburg, PA and Jordan Gazza of Nashville, TN.
She will also be sadly missed by her great-grandchildren Zoe Grace Catino of Alexandria, VA; Logan Joseph Gazza of Mechanicsburg, PA; Isabella Rose Gazza of Spencerport, NYand many cousins, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Betty Ann was preceded in death by her son Robert Joseph; her brother Edward, her sister Rose; and her granddaughters Eden Elizabeth and Libby Janelle.
The family wishes to thank Betty Ann and Bob’s neighbors and friends who offered their help and support during her illness and her dedicated team from the Visiting Nurses Association of Indiana County for the excellent care they provided.
A visitation will be held Wednesday from 8:30 AM until time of Blessing Service at 9:30 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Christian Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site. Internment will follow in the St. Francis Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Betty Ann’s name to the Visiting Nurses Association of Indiana County and the IRMC Cancer Center Indiana, PA.
