Elizabeth "Betty" Rebecca (Ruddock) Gerhard

Elizabeth "Betty" Rebecca Gerhard, 90, Homer City died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at her daughter's residence in Homer City. She was born June 30, 1923 in Ernest, PA and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Jean (Hamilton) Ruddock. She was a member of Hope Lutheran Church in Homer City and a member of the LCW (Lutheran Church Women). Her favorite pastime was playing cards with friends, and also enjoyed shopping, dining out, and visiting family throughout the country. She was a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother who loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She touched many lives and was loved by many. She will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters, Rebecca J. (James) Krueger of Gig Harbor, WA and Susan K. (Thomas) Plowcha of Homer City; one son, David S. (Jean) Gerhard of Reading, PA; and a sister, Peggy Strong of Clymer, PA. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Valerie, Robert, and David Krueger, Jennifer, Andrew and Terrence Gerhard and Matthew and Erik Plowcha. Great grandchildren, Ethan Plowcha, Alyssa Rodriguez, Benjamin and Sarah Krueger, Alexander, Rachel and Joseph Krueger and Grace Herrera also survive her. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William, two sisters, Jean Yates and Irene Daniels and one brother, David Ruddock. Friends will be received Wednesday from 2-4 and 6-8PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11AM at the Hope Lutheran Church in Homer City with Rev. Stephen Bond, officiating. Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery.
