Floyd E. Taylor

Floyd E. Taylor, 75 Indiana died Saturday, November 19, 2016 at Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. He was the son of the late Harry and Nellie (Alsop) Taylor and was born October 29, 1941 in Graceton. Floyd served his country with honor as a member of the United States Air Force, most notably during the Vietnam War. After the war, Floyd went to work for Rochester and Pittsburgh Coal Company, spending 26 years at the Lucerne 6 Mine. Upon retirement floyd became an avid bicyclist spending hours on the Hoodlebug and Ghost Town Trails with his friend Paul. He also played tennis, ping pong and golf with his brother Ark and many friends. He loved to take his grandchildren to amusement parks, caverns and Civil War Battlefields. His civil war hero was Stonewall Jackson. Mr. Taylor is survived by his wife, Patricia (Walker) Taylor; three children, James D. (Poom) Taylor, Indiana; Thomas B. Taylor, Homer City and Amy T (Mark) Phillips, Mechanicsburg; grandchildren, Alexander Taylor, Madalyn Taylor, Corinne Taylor, Rondan Phillips, Riley Phillips and Mitchell Phillips. He is also survived by a great granddaughter, Naomi Taylor and his brothers, Roy Taylor, Wilmington, DE and Rev. Vaughn Taylor, Indiana. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his in-laws, Dorothy and James Walker, brothers, Harry, David and Robert Taylor and sisters, Jane Hanna and Ruth Rucker. Friends will be received Wednesday, from 10 AM until time of service at noon at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City with Rev. Jack Lucas, officiating. Interment to follow in the Oakland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Hilltop Baptist Church, 4859 Route 286 Hwy West, Indiana. PA 15701
