George W. Voytek

George W. Voytek, 97, Coral died Sunday, April 19, 2015 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born November 15, 1917 in Bradenville, PA and was the son of the late Stephen and Mary (Vargo) Voytek. George served our country with the US Army during WWII throughout Europe with the Artillery as a survey and instrument man. While in Luxembourg he earned a Bronze Star for his bravery. After completing his active duty, he attended and graduated from Vale Tech in Blairsville. George was employed by Otto Milk Company until its closure and then worked at IUP until his retirement in 1981. He was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and a lifetime member of Homer City VFW Post # 7412. George was an avid Steelers and Pirates fan and enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets. His grandsons were his pride and joy. He is survived by his two daughters, Georgette Johnston and her husband Terry Johnston of Penn Run and Cindy Wilson and her husband David Wilson of Coral. He is also survived by his two grandsons, Brian Johnston and his wife Julie of Oceanside CA and Brett Johnston of Martinsburg. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Frances in 2012, brothers, John, Steve, Michael and a sister Ann Smith. A special thanks to his caretaker, Carol. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 PM, Thursday at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held at 9:30 AM Friday at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site with Msgr. Larry Kiniry, the celebrant. Interment to follow in the St. Francis Cemetery.
