Harold S. Housholder, Jr., 72, of Coral passed away on October 29, 2025 at IRMC.
Born October 16, 1953 in Indiana, he was the son of the late Harold S. Housholder, Sr. and Grace Marie (Lockard) Housholder.
Harold owned and operated his own business for more than thirty years. A devoted public servant, he was a life member, and former chief of the Coral-Graceton Volunteer Fire Department and also belonged to the Red Barn Sportsmen’s Club. He was a founder of the Indiana County Fire Academy and president of the Chiefs Association from 1988 until 1991.
He enjoyed hunting with his son Matt and grandson Jett, riding his side-by-side, mowing grass, watching NASCAR, cooking for his family, gardening, researching family genealogy, and classic cars.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Steffish) Housholder whom he married August 9, 2003; his children, Harold S. Housholder III (Hope), Matthew Housholder (Tammy), and Brooke Housholder (Doug Bell); and his grandchildren, Hannah (Ty McBreen) Housholder, Cody (Meadow Wano) Housholder, Jett Housholder, Locke Housholder, and Arya Bell.
Harold is also survived by his siblings, Nancy (Jim) Risinger, Karen Jennings, Dennis (Marianne) Housholder, and Mark (Michelle) Housholder; numerous nieces and nephews; and many dear friends, including Joe and Joy Canton, Monica Rura, the Arone family, and Randy Daugherty.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his in-laws, Rudy and Laura Steffish; and his brother-in-law, James Jennings.
The family extends heartfelt thanks to the Visiting Nurses, the doctors and nurses at IRMC, and the Luther Chapel family for their compassionate care and support.
Friends are invited to gather on Saturday from 4 PM to 8 PM at Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc. in Homer City. On Sunday, visiting hours will be from 12 PM until the service begins at 1 PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Luther Chapel Lutheran Cemetery in Coral.
In honor of Harold’s years of service, the Coral-Graceton Volunteer Fire Department will hold a special service.
