James Sandolfini, 91, of Homer City (Graceton) passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, November 28, 2019. James was born on November 29, 1927, and was the son of the late Pasquale and Severina (Baccarini) Sandolfini.
James was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and UMWA Local #488, Lucernemines. James was a devoted husband and loving father. He always enjoyed having his family together, especially for the holidays. He was an avid gardener and he enjoyed playing his mandolin and playing cards.
James was a United States Navy Veteran having served in WWII on the USS Missouri. He was retired from R&P Coal Company where his last employment was with Lucerne No. 6 Mine and he also employed by the Wilbert Vault Company.
He is survived by his children, James (Rosanne) Sandolfini, Greensburg; Suzanne (Paul) Manecke, West Virginia; Patti (Tony) Sottile, Indiana; and Karen (Mark) Jashinski, Indiana; grandchildren, Karena Sandolfini (Kary) Kim, Lucas (Julie) Sandolfini, Brian (Fe) Manecke, James (Tessa) Manecke, Justin Sottile, Holli Sottile, Ashley Jashinski, and Adam Jashinski; great grandchildren, Caden, Vinny, Shelby and Naomi, Junabella, Ollie and Revel. He is also survived by his sisters, Edith Giazzon, Lockport, NY and Mary Dobay, Graceton and all his nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 66 years, Helen (Hibel) Sandolfini, five brothers, Leno, Tulio, Bruno, Arnold, Albert and three sisters, Rena Sartori, Erma Hegadus and Hilda Pratt.
Friends and relatives are invited to visit with the family from 2-4 PM and 6-8 PM on Monday, December 2, 2019 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held Tuesday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Funeral Mass that will be celebrated at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site at 10 AM on Tuesday, December 3, 2019. Interment will be at the St. Francis Cemetery, Graceton.
