Joanne E. Barletta, 90 answered the Lord's call and passed away peacefully on November 24, 2013 at Bethany Place Personal Care Home, Indiana, PA. She was born February 5, 1923 in Homer City, PA, the daughter of the late Carmine and Josephine (Bruni) Barletta. Joanne was employed by Robert Shaw until its closing and worked for the Indiana County Workshop until her retirement. Joanne was a devout Catholic and an active member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish. She was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society, and Silver and Gold. Also, she was a member of the AARP Evergreen Chapter 2581 and the Senior Center in Homer City. Joanne loved to travel, enjoying trips to Mexico, Europe, and four Caribbean cruises with her sister Rose and niece Regina. Joanne often helped in the family grocery store, Barletta's Market, and enjoyed making many delicious Italian dishes, especially on Christmas Eve. In addition to her parents, Joanne was preceded in death by her brothers; Fred, John, Frank, and infant Carmen Barletta; and sisters Theresa LaMantia and Rose Moretti. Surviving are: Regina (Stephen) Mahoney, Gainesville, VA; Marilyn (Kenneth) Waltermire, Cuyahoga Falls Ohio; Fredalene (Sam) Bowers, Indiana, Pa; Patti Moretti, Las Vegas, NV; Dennis (Tina) Barletta, Clayton, North Carolina; Michelle (Fred) Englehart, Kent, Ohio and Chris (Sperry) Silecchia Akron, Ohio and their families. She will be dearly missed and leaves behind many cherished memories. Friends will be received Wednesday, December 4, 2013 from 3-5 and 6-8PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing Service will be held Thursday morning at 9:30 at the funeral home followed by a funeral Mass at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucernemines Site with Rev. Fr. Ron Cyktor.
