Joseph Leysock

Joe Leysock, 91, Lucernemines died Wednesday, November 26, 2014 at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. He was born August 25, 1923 in Lucernemines and was the son of the late Peter and Mary Hoholyak) Leysock Jr. Mr. Leysock was a Navy Veteran and served his country in the battle of Okinawa, a retired coal miner with 45 years of employment, member of the local UMWA and an avid golfer. He also was a member of the Indiana VFW Post #1989, Homer City American Legion Post #493, Burrell Township Rod and Gun Club, and the Tide and Red Barn Sportsman's Clubs. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Irene (Cush) One son, Greg and his wife Diane of Stow, Ohio And one grandson Trevor and his wife Margaux of Charleston, SC In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Andy, Pete and John and three sisters, Mary Sheets, Anna Nymick and Veronica Kiral. Friends will be received Saturday from 11AM until 12:45 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held at 1PM at St. Mary's Holy Protection Byzantine Catholic Church, Homer City with Father Cuthbert Jack, celebrant.
