Karen Jean (Pelo) Rankin

Karen Jean Rankin, 70, Lucernmines died December 16, 2016 at Magees Womens Hospital surrounded by her family. She is the daughter of the late Joseph and Sophie (Rellick) Pelo and was born September 29, 1946 in Indiana. She was a member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and worked at Robert Shaw until she chose to stay at home and raise her children. She was also a child caregiver to many other children throughout her years. She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and spending time with her family. She is survived by two children, Joseph Rankin and wife Carmen, Indiana and Brandi Rankin, Lucernemines; grandpuppy, Guss; 3 grandchildren, Paige Rankin and significant other Nathan Myers, Plum, Will and Jeremy Montgomery and a great granddaughter, Allisyn. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Pelo and wife Elizabeth, Lorain, Ohio and niece, Karen Surma, Frederick, MD. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, James Rankin and two sisters, Amelia Dettoree and Irene Surma. Friends will be received Monday from 10 until time of funeral service at noon at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City with Rev. Fr. Ron Cyktor, officiating. Interment to follow in the St. Bernards Cemetery, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Citizens Ambulance Service, 805 Hospital Road, Indiana, PA 15701
