Laird Eugene Miller

March 4, 1925 — July 9, 2018

Laird Eugene Miller, Sr. "Coho", 93, Smicksburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 9, 2018, at Indiana Regional Medical Center. He was born on March 4, 1925 in Revloc and was the son of the late Rev. Ernest E. and Hazel (Zimmerman) Miller. Laird was in the Homer City CC Camp and worked at Sun Shipyard in Chester, Pa, before joining the US Army during WWII and was stationed in Europe. He enjoyed gardening and was a former owner of Miller Greenhouse in North Apollo. Coho was an avid fisherman and hunter. He also enjoyed living in Smicksburg with many of his Amish friends. Laird retired in 1985 from National Roll in Avonmore with 34 years of service. He is survived by three children, son Laird E. Miller, Jr., Gyton, GA. Two daughters, LaRue D. Miller, Homer City and Phyllis J. Miller, La Jose. Two sisters Ressie Risinger, Indiana and Geraldine Arford, Armagh, formerly of Homer City. Two brothers James Miller, Hickory, NC and Samuel Paul Miller, Williamson, NY. 5grandchildren, 11 great grandcildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by granddaughter Amy (miller) Wanner in 2015. A special thanks to Maple Valley Personal Care Home and staff for the great care they provided to him for the past year. Also special friends Bob and Cathy Bowman, Avonmore; Joe and Judy Cardaro, Apollo; (Fishing and Hunting Buddy) Jeff and Nancy Sink, Smicksburg; John Weaver and Family, Smicksburg; and Many of his Amish friends. Most of all a special thanks to his niece Connie Stuckich, Armagh, for her wonderful care she extended to her uncle. Visitation will be on Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 PM at C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City, where funeral services will be held Monday at 11 AM., Pastor Ronald Wallace Officiating. Interment will follow at his favorite resting place, Salem Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Smicksburg.
