Louis R. Volk

Louis R. Volk, age 81 of Josephine, Pa passed away Friday, May 22, 2015 at home surrounded by his family. The son of Mike and Nellie Volk, born May 18, 1934 in Tearing Run, Homer City, PA. Lou was a member of The Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral, PA. He retired from Blairsville Westinghouse after 29 years of service. He enjoyed being outdoors, painting, woodworking, listening to Polkas, and being with his family. Surviving is his wife of 59 years Magdalene (Mikeska) Volk, son Michael Volk, son Bob Volk and wife Brenda Volk, daughter Linda Smith and husband Dave Smith, all of Josephine, sister Rose Sorrell of Miamisburg, Ohio, grandson Tim Volk of Dayton, Ohio, granddaughters Magdalene Volk of Scranton, Maretta Volk of Homer City, Alex, Tori, and Cassie Smith of Josephine, step granddaughters Tanya and Tracy Short of Josephine, and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and 2 brothers, and his grandson Michael Volk. The Family will receive friends from 9-10:30 am on Tuesday, May 26 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home in Homer City, Pa. A prayer service will be held at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Indiana County Hospice.
