Monica Jones

Monica (Lazor) Jones, 64, of Homer City, went to be with our Lord while surrounded by her loving family on April 23rd, 2024. Born February 5th, 1960, in Indiana, PA, she was the daughter of Bernard and Geneva Lazor.

Monica was a loving wife to her late husband of 42 years, Ron “Poopsie” Jones and the best mother to her two children, Lindsey (Steve) Holt, and Matthew (Kim) Jones. Monica embraced her newest role as a proud Nana to her two grandchildren, Keegan, and Leena.

Monica was a 1978 graduate of Homer-Center High School. Where she met her husband Poopsie and spent every day with her twin sister and best friend, Veronica. Veronica and Monica had a very special bond and spent time with each other nearly every day of their lives.

Monica proudly served as the Center Township Tax collector for the last 10 years, and prior to that she worked at George Corey Accounting services since 1978.

Monica enjoyed spending time with her beloved family and her house quickly became the cherished hangout spot for all her extended family and friends. Monica would be described by all as a kind, pure and gentle soul. She was a selfless person who never hesitated to help anyone, but most of all, Monica loved helping her family. In the past four years she helped both of her children remodel and build their dream homes. Monica was an involved member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and the Homer City community. She loved supporting both her kids’ athletic, educational, and professional endeavors.

Monica is survived by her daughter Lindsey (Steve) Holt, son Matthew (Kim) Jones, grandchildren Keegan and Leena Jones, father Bernard Lazor, twin sister Veronica (Mark) Buzi, brother Bernie (Cheryl) Lazor, sister Lisa Kiral, in-laws Randy (Teresa) Jones, Roger (Sharon) Jones, and Chris Jones. Monica also had many nieces and nephews whom she loved spending time with and was looking forward to celebrating multiple family weddings this summer.

Monica is welcomed in heaven by her beloved husband Poopsie, her mother Geneva, and in-laws Clair and Donna Jones, as well as many other special family and friends.

Following Monica’s wishes a public Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucerne Mines site at 11:30am, Saturday, April 27th. Interment will be held at St. Bernard’s of Clairvaux Cemetery immediately following the mass.
