Raymond George Ferreira, 90, of Homer City, passed away on Saturday, September 30, at Rose Haven Personal Care Home in Indiana.
Ray served his country in the communications division of the US Air Force in Albuquerque, New Mexico, from 1952 to 1956 and retired from Western Union Telegraph Company after many years of service.
In addition to his wife Patricia (Yakimovich) and her daughter Lisa St. Sauveur (Jed Schwartz), Ray is survived by a sister, Georgiana Czaplicki (Theodore), of Connecticut, a brother Adrian (Bernadine), of Florida, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose’ and Mary (Pires) Ferreira, two brothers, Fernando and Ventura (Ben), and one sister, Irene LoRusso (Mike).
Visitation will be held from 10:30-11:30 AM on Thursday, October 5, at Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services Inc., Homer City, PA. A Blessing Service will be held at 11:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Lucernemines Site, at noon. Internment with full military honors will follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Ray’s memory to Rose Haven, Indiana, PA, or Keeper of the Flame Personal Care Home, Blairsville, PA.
