Richard "Dick" James Farabaugh, 76, of Indiana, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 11, 2019, surrounded by his family. He was a man with a deep love of family, friends, faith and helping others. He was born July 12, 1943, to Gertrude and Bernard Farabaugh, of Carrolltown.
He was married for 54 years to his loving wife, Virginia "Jenny" (Biller) Farabaugh, and will be remembered as a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his son David (wife Lee) Farabaugh, and grandson Paul; daughter Karen (husband Brian) Seger, grandchildren Adam (wife Ashley) Seger, and Megan (husband Ford) Stepp, and great-grandchildren Penn and Foster.
He also is survived by several brothers and sisters: Margaret (Joe) Rogal, Ruth (Tom) Becker, Harold (Larraine) Farabaugh, Gene Farabaugh and Howard (Donna) Farabaugh.
Richard was a member of the first graduating class of Cambria Heights High School in 1961 and then served six years with the Air National Guard 271 Aeronautical Wing.
He earned an associate degree in electrical engineering from Penn State University and spent 42 years in the communication industry with AT&T, GTE, Bell Atlantic and Verizon. He retired in 2003 as outside plant engineering manager for Verizon. After retiring, he enjoyed caring for the horses and property at Chestnut Pride Morgan Farm.
He loved spending time with his wife and family, gardening, playing cards, shooting pool, fishing, hunting and helping others. He was also considered by many to be a master craftsman and handyman extraordinaire.
Richard was a lifetime member of the NRA, a Penn State Master Gardener, avid fisherman and past president and treasurer of the Ken Sink Chapter of Trout Unlimited. He also was a member of Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 10 AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Lucenemines Site. A Celebration of Life will immediately follow in the Church Hall. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.
