Robert Clair Wineman passed away at the North Cypress Hospital Hospice in Houston, Texas, on February 1, 2026. Born in 1931 to J.R. (Ralph) and Blanche Wineman of 47 Kunkle Avenue in Homer City, where he spent his childhood years.
He attended Homer City High School and graduated in the Class of 1949. While attending school, he fell in love with his classmate, Helen Overdorff, and later became engaged. Bob, as he was known to his friends, enlisted in the U.S. Army and served in Korea during that war. Shortly after receiving an Honorable Discharge from the Army, Bob and Helen were married in 1953 at the Homer City Methodist Church.
Bob went to work at Syntron, and after work hours, built the house that he and Helen would live in for the rest of their lives. They had two sons; Michael in 1956 and James in 1962. Bob worked up through the ranks at Syntron, staying with the company when it changed to FMC. He retired from FMC as the Manufacturing Manager of the Homer City and Blairsville plants. He and Helen dearly loved each other and did everything together throughout their lives. Bob lost his soulmate, Helen, when she passed away in 2015. In later years, he lived with his son, Jim, in Houston, Texas, until his death.
Bob was always busy and never content to idly sit still. He constantly worked, maintaining and upgrading their home and property. Bob and Helen took great pride in their yard, and during the warm months were usually found working in the vegetable garden or one of the numerous flowerbeds, or installing new features on the property. During the winter months, Bob could be found in his basement workshop building some new project, or fixing something that “didn't work quite right.” There really wasn't anything that Bob didn't “tinker with.” When not working around the house, Bob and Helen enjoyed traveling to visit their sons and their families.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents, J.R. and Blanche, his beloved wife, Helen, and his brother Gordon.
He is survived by his sons, Michael and James, his loving daughter-in-law, Cindy (Jim's wife), and six grandchildren; Nicholas, Danielle, Alexis, Amanda, Clare, and Benjamin. In addition, he is missed by the many friends he has made during his life.
Bob will be laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery Garden of Devotions next to his beloved Helen. Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Bob's name.
