Stephen Kundla

July 12, 1926 — April 11, 2013

Very Reverend Stephen Kundla, 86 of Homer City died Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Allegheny General Hospital. He was the son of the late Joseph and Anna (Katrenic) Kundla and was born July, 12, 1926 in Graceton. Father Steve started out as a Deacon at the SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church in Homer City following his retirement from Fisher Scientific in 1988. He was later ordained into Priesthood. Father Steve was the head of the Indiana County Food Bank, where he received certification from Governor Shaffer. He was a member of the Indiana VFW Post #1989 and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. Father Steve was in the United States Air Corp from 1944-1945. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Blazosky; three children, Georgene and her husband Bob Coulter of Mt. Lebanon; Steven Kundla and his wife Beverly of Homer City and Susan and her husband Michael Radage of Cecil. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Ryan (Lauren) Coulter and Devin and Aaron Kundla. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Susan Mihalko, Mary Kotzur and Ann Hranitz. Friends will be received Friday from 6-8 PM at St. Michaels Orthodox Church, 465 Morris Street Clymer where a Priests Funeral Service will be recited 7:00 PM Friday. A Funeral Divine Liturgy will be offered Saturday 10AM at St. Michael Orthodox Church, Clymer with Bishop Gregory Tatsis, the celebrant. Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. Graveside Military Services will be held at by the Indiana VFW Post #1989.
