Velma Jean Foster

Velma Jean Foster, 66, of Brush Valley passed away November 18, 2018 in Brush Valley after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born December 11, 1951 in Indiana to Eston Harper and Bertha Gray. Velma graduated from Laura Lamar High School in 1970 and married Tom Foster on October 12, 1973. Velma worked at Robert Shaw and also enjoyed helping patients while employed by the Visiting Nurses Association. Velma attended Brush Valley United Methodist Church. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and loved spending time with all of her family, especially her grandsons. Velma has many relatives in West Virginia and enjoyed visiting them at the annual family reunion in Seneca. She is survived by her husband Tom with whom she shared 45 years of marriage; daughter Brenda Tuorinsky and husband Damon; son Craig and wife Loralee "Loree"; grandsons Brent and Evan Tuorinsky; brothers Norman and wife Donna; Darius; Dwight and wife Terri; Duane; David and wife Tracy; Ronald; Gerald; Jeffrey; Brian and wife Kara; sisters LaVonne "Vonnie" Boyer and husband Gary; Laura "Laurie" Delaney and husband Chris and Sharon Kuntz and husband Jack; brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws Glen; Frederick; Donald and wife Susan; Barbara Joseph and husband Rich; Dale and wife Sue; many nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her adopted sister Diane Lohr. In addition to her parents, he was preceded in death by her step mother, Naomi Harper; two infant brothers; nephew, Chad Harper; brother-in-law, Richard Foster; sister-in-laws, Lois Foster; Yvonne Foster and Sylvia Foster. She was also preceded in death by Craig and Ollie Hunter who held a very special place in her heart. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 2:30 at the funeral home with Reverend Grant Hunter, officiating. Interment to follow in the Brush Valley Lutheran Cemetery.
