William Paul Jennings, Sr.

September 6, 1918 — January 7, 2016

William Paul Jennings Sr. age 97 of Home, formerly of Homer City, Pa, died Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the IRMC, Indiana PA. He was born September 6, 1918 at Cokeville, Pa. and was the son of the late John and Lydia Jennings. Bill was a retired coal miner having been employed by the R and P coal company and was a member of the UMWA local 488 Lucernemines. Bill was a Veteran of United States Navy having served in the Philippines during World War II and was a member of American Legion Post 493, Homer City, Pa. He attended Old Mahoning Baptist Church, Smicksburg, Pa. Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, pitching horseshoes, trading with friends and a long and happy life with his family. He is survived by two daughters and one son. Linda and husband Nick Kanyan, Coral, Karen and husband Jack Sink, Home and Melvin Jennings and wife Lee, Bedford, Ohio.11 grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, seven great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his daughter-in-law Violet Jennings. He was preceded in death by his wife Daisy in 1999 and son William Jr. in 2004 and by his parents mentioned above and five brothers and three sisters. Friends will be received, Saturday 2-4 and 6-8 at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A funeral service will be held Sunday at 1:00 P.M. at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home with Rev. Micah McMillen officiating and interment to follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, Pa. Graveside military rites will be held by the American Legion Post #493, Homer City.
