Homer City

Doris Ann (Young) Brown, 89, of Homer City died June 19, 2020 at Indiana Regional Medical
Center. She was the daughter of the late George Franklin and Bertha Kathryn (Brode) Young
and was born March 19, 1931 in Johnstown, PA

Doris was a member of Hope Lutheran Church, Homer City. She graduated from Presbyterian
Hospital School of Nursing as an RN, and worked at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh and
Washington Hospital, Washington, PA. in her younger years.

Doris was a very talented cook and baker, well-known for her apple dumplings. She was also an
accomplished seamstress and quilter, and enjoyed sewing for her children. She was an avid
gardener and canned and froze various fruits and vegetables even into her eighties. Doris
enjoyed spending time with her family, bird-watching, fishing, hunting, reading, and crossword
puzzles.

Doris is survived by her children – Betsy Brown, Homer City, Carol (Jeff) Beall, Reno, NV,
Cindy (Rich) Andrie, Homer City, Rich Brown (Nat) Homer City, John (Cindy) Brown,
Kenwood. Grandchildren, Christopher Mrozowski, Kathryn Mrozowski, Joshua Brown, Andrew
(Samantha) Brown, Jeremy Brown, Joseph (Stephanie) Andrie, Julie Andrie and fiance Jordan
Alsop, Jason Beall, Emily (Sam) Fradette, and George Brown. She is also survived by her great
grandchildren, Owen, Isaac, Easton, and Emma Brown, and Cameron and Wren Andrie. She is
also survived by her brothers, George (Elsie) Young, Ocean View, DE and William (Judy)
Young, Homer City, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Dr. Ralph R.
Brown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be make to the Homer City Library, where Doris
volunteered, Hope Lutheran Church, Homer City, Citizens Ambulance of Indiana County, or a
charity of one’s choice.


Funeral Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
Interment will be in the Salem Cemetery
