Elizabeth Teresa Baran

Elizabeth Teresa Baran, 88, of Homer City died Wednesday, July 12, 2017 at Bethany Place Indiana, PA. A Daughter of the late Michael and Anna (Barron) Baran, she was born September 13, 1928. She was a member of the SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, Homer City. Elizabeth retired from FMC Corp. in 1991, after 44 years of service. She served on the Homer-Center School Board for 22 years, attended IUP, served as public relations chairman of the United Way, Indiana Co., served as Secretary Board of Directors of the Indiana Co. YMCA, served on the Western PA Comprehensive Health Planning commission, served as member of the International Management Council as public relations chairman, served as president of Western PA Management board of Governors. Elizabeth touched many hearts. She loved her church, and all of its traditions. She spent many hours making rolls, helping with fundraisers and cooking for their Sunday brunch. She loved her family, enjoyed hearing stories of her nieces and nephews, great and great, great. Elizabeth enjoyed passing along the family art of making pysanky eggs for the Easter holiday. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Easter and Christmas were always a special time spent with family. Her home was always open to anyone. She enjoyed many fun evenings, playing card games with her girlfriends. She is survived by many nieces and nephews, special girls, LuAnn and Susan, and all her loving friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters Pauline, Ann, Susanna and Mary; and brothers John, George and Michael. A special Thank you to the staff at Bethany Place and Via Quest Hospice for the tender, loving care given to Elizabeth during her illness. Friends will be received Friday from 4-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City where a Panichida will be held Friday at 7:30 PM at the funeral home. A Panichida will be held Saturday at 9:30 at the funeral home followed a Funeral Service at 10AM at SS Peter and Paul Orthodox Church with Reverend Father Matthew Conjelko, the Celebrant. Interment to follow in the Oakland Cemetery, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to SS. Peter and Paul Orthodox Church, 419 S. Main Street, Homer City, PA 15748
