Helen (Checkaneck) Jones

Helen Jones, 92, Homer City died Saturday, October 7, 2017 at Indiana Regional Medical Center. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Domeski) Checkaneck and was born March 19, 1925 in Shenandoah, PA. Helen was a homemaker all of her life and enjoyed being at home raising her seven children. She also enjoyed bingo and in her early years camping with her family. Helen loved cooking and would always have her family over on Sundays where she would prepare wonderful meals. She is survived by seven children, Gene A. Jones, Homer City; Linda (Bill) Eldridge, Blacklick; Kathleen (Alex) Yarkowski, Homer City; Nancy (Marty) Obush, Indiana; Barry (Tina) Jones, Blairsville RD; Kenny (Terry) Jones, Homer City and Howard (Karyn) Jones, Homer City; 15 grandchildren, Tim Jones, Bethany Paull, Mike and Dave Eldridge, Anthony, Amy and Jason Yarkowski, Kristen Obush, Jocelyn Moore, Nick and Eric Jones, Katie Kosick, Emily Jones and Melissa and Laura Jones; seven great grandchildren, Chloe, Peyton, Alaina, Greta, Garrett, Cason and Dean. She was also survived by her brother Charles Saupp, Tonawanda, NY and her sister, Anna Anderson, Ohio. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gene R. in 1999; son in law, James Eldridge and daughter in law, Barbara Jones; five brothers, Michael, Fred, Andrew, Pete and Walter and three sisters, Tillie, Catherine and Dorothy. Friends will be received Tuesday from 2-4 and 6-8 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday at 10:30 AM at the funeral Home with Pastor Katrina Laude, officiating. Interment to follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, Indiana. A special thank you to her caregivers, Marlene, Brenda, Cindy T., Cindy B., Faye and Mariea.
