Karen Elizabeth (Duffalo) Biconik

April 20, 1978 — June 19, 2020

Deckers Point

Karen Elizabeth (Duffalo) Biconik, 42, of Deckers Point quietly passed away on Friday, June 19, 2020 at her home.  Surrounded by family and loved ones, her death came after a courageous six-year battle with breast cancer.

Karen was born April 20, 1978 in Indiana, PA.  She was the daughter of Rachel (Valliere) Duffalo and Richard (Rick) Duffalo of Homer City.  She was the wife of Jamin Biconik for 24 years.

Karen was a 1996 graduate of Homer-Center High School and later the Shadyside School of Nursing.  She was a registered nurse and started her career at Braddock Hospital in Braddock, PA.  She went on to spend many years as a visiting nurse and supervisor for the V.N.A. of Indiana, PA.  She was dedicated to caring for her patients and generally helping others.  Her kind heart was greatly appreciated by many patients.

Karen was a loving mother and wife.  She was never too busy or too tired to attend to her family’s needs.  She greatly enjoyed the outdoors and spent many hours in her garden caring for her flowers and plants, while teaching her children to appreciate the beauty of nature.  She also enjoyed various art forms particularly watercolor painting.  Her greatest joys were spending time with her family, especially vacations to the Outer Banks.

Karen is survived by her husband, Jamin and children, Kaylee, Kaitlyn, and Amagi.  Also surviving are her parents, brother, Rick Duffalo of Pittsburgh; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Jan and Pearl Duffalo, and Olier and Rachel Valliere.

According to Karen’s wishes, there will be no visitation.  A private celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
