Ronald Scott “Poopsie” Jones, 63, of Homer City, went to be with our Lord while surrounded by his loving family on October 2nd, 2023. Born April 2nd, 1960 in Indiana, he was the son of Clair and Donna Jones.
Poopsie was a loving husband to his wife of 42 years, Monica, and the best father to his two children, Lindsey (Steve) Holt and Matthew (Kim) Jones. Poopsie embraced his newest role as proud grandfather to his two grandchildren, Keegan and Leena.
Poopsie was a 1978 graduate of Homer-Center High School where he was a very talented football, basketball and baseball player. He loved to reminisce about leading the Wildcats to an undefeated 1977 football season alongside his cousin Kenny.
Poopsie enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, shooting pool and playing cards with his family and friends. He was an involved member of the Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and the Homer City community, as well as a dedicated coach and supporter of his children’s athletic endeavors.
Poopsie was a hardworking coal miner and a proud member of the UMWA for many years. He also was employed at the Indiana Gazette.
He enjoyed spending time with his beloved family members, including his brothers Robin (Chris) Jones, Randy (Teresa) Jones and Roger “Snub” Jones, and in-laws, Bernard and Geneva Lazor, Veronica (Mark) Buzi, Bernie (Cheryl) Lazor, Lisa Kiral, and many nieces and nephews.
Poopsie was preceded in death by his parents Clair and Donna Jones, his brother Robin Jones, and his mother-in-law Geneva Lazor.
Family and Friends will be received Thursday, October 5th from 4-7pm at the Bowser Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Inc., in Homer City. A Funeral Mass will be held at Our Lady of Assumption Parish, Lucerne site on Friday, October 6th at 11am. Interment to follow in the St. Bernard Cemetery, Indiana.
